Evan Henningfeld has been selected as the 2025 DAR Good Citizen Award winner for Big Foot High School. The Daughters of the American Revolution-Samuel Phoenix Chapter sponsor this award. The Good Citizen award is based on the qualities of dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism.
Evan has participated in the sports of football, basketball, and baseball and a member of the Student-Athlete Leadership Team discussing sportsmanship and school values, as well as reporting on the Big Foot Sports Network. He is a member of Future Farmers of America, serving as several officers and many community events including Agriscience Camp for kids, FFA Blood Drive, Walworth County Dairy Breakfast Volunteer and completing in Agriscience Fair at local, state and national levels. He has been a student Council member, on National Honor Society serving in community events and a mentor and tutor with the Freshman Mentor program. He has participated in FBLA and a Jazz musician.
He has been a member of 4-H since elementary school, showing animals and woodworking projects, served as president and is on the Junior Leaders board, has been an umpire for the Big Foot Ball and Glove program and he keeps up a job at Duesterbecks Brewery.
His plan for the future is to study Kinesiology, and to serve others as a physician intending to better the healthcare of his patients. His good citizen philosophy includes being dependable so people can trust and have a good example, to serve the community for a successful community, and to work hard for the good of fellow citizens.
He also has participated in the Essay Scholarship portion of this award. The Essay title was: Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving it: with the Focus Question: Service is an essential attribute of a good citizen. Discuss how service can foster a strong sense of community and strengthen our American Identity. Other winners from local schools have submitted essays for local DAR and Statewide judging occurring at present. The Scholarship Essay winner will be announced in March.
