The Rock Valley Conference proudly held its first-ever Sportsmanship Summit, bringing together student-athletes, athletic directors, coaches, and mentors from all 11 participating schools.
Big Foot was represented by the following student-athletes: Evan Henningfeld, Annabelle Pearce, Kate Hummel, Carter Ries, Claire Patek, Mya Gonzalez, Chloe Pearce, Leah Paulsen, Aidan Clary, Ta Kai Hubbert, Chase Wilson & Riley Stankevitz.
This significant event aimed to promote the ideals of sportsmanship and foster a sense of community among young athletes. The keynote speaker, Mark Horbinski from Won80, shared his wealth of experience, drawing from his impressive 28 years in public education and over 35 years of coaching at youth, middle school, and high school levels.
Mark kicked off the summit with an engaging interactive session centered around the theme of VIRTUE. Student-athletes participated in meaningful discussions regarding sportsmanship, touching on vital topics such as the impact of social media, mental health, and the importance of cheers and chants in supporting their teams. The event not only highlighted the significance of respect and integrity in sports but also encouraged participants to carry these values beyond the playing field, creating a positive atmosphere both in competition and in their daily lives.
